WHAT I’M DRINKING NOW: Jeb Stuart’s Wine Pick of the Month
2024 Domaine du Vieux Lazaret Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc
This full-bodied white from the southern Rhone Valley is a blend of Clairette Blanche, Bourboulenc, Grenache Blanc, and Roussanne. The wine has great texture and luxurious mouthfeel. The aromatics soar with hints of sliced apples, herbs, honeysuckle, dried pears, and baking spices. The robust palate has floral notes and layers of blanched almonds and subtle hints of fruit. There is a savoriness to the long finish giving the wine great complexity. Because of its full-bodied nature and complexity, it’s a tremendous food wine. It pairs well with a wide variety of food on our menu, including Charred Mortadella, Shrimp Spring Rolls, Pizza Pescatore, Spring Pea Salad, Snapper, Grouper, Greener Pasture Chicken, and Pork Chop. So, get out of that Chardonnay rut and toast some Chateauneuf-Du-Pape Blanc!
